Quentin Geczy
Quentin Geczy, based in London, attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, before continuing his studies at the University of Sydney Medical School for two years. He plans to complete his medical education closer to Europe while pursuing a career in consulting and finance, particularly healthcare. During the medical school application process, Quentin has remained involved in health and education through research and tutoring. He runs a private education business, supporting students in STEM subjects and guiding them through university admissions. Additionally, he is developing an online company that offers educational materials for UK high school exams (GCSEs, A-Levels), medical exams (BMAT, UCAT, GAMSAT, MCAT), and the SAT. After completing high school in Australia, Geczy moved to the United States in 2016 to study science and economics. He earned a Bachelor’s in Molecular Cellular Development Biology (MCDB) and Economics from Yale University. While there, he developed proficiency in working with large datasets using R and applying theoretical models to solve complex problems in economics, finance, and accounting. Quentin’s studies in MCDB expanded on his pre-med coursework, and his thesis, titled “Psychedelic Renaissance in Psychiatry,” examined how the 5-HT2A receptor’s interaction with psychedelics can promote neuroplasticity. This research has contributed to developments in mental health treatments for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. His studies in both Economics and MCDB have provided Geczy with a unique, multidisciplinary education that equips him with solid analytical skills and clinical reasoning abilities. These disciplines also helped him hone his communication skills, allowing him to explain complex concepts in clear, understandable terms. Quentin was also a Division I Varsity Athlete at Yale, where he excelled in Lightweight Crew. Managing the demands of athletics and academics taught him discipline, resilience, and leadership, which continue to influence his professional and personal life. Geczy’s interest in medicine began early in his life after a cycling accident that resulted in a fractured femur. Over the years, he faced other health challenges, including a serious accident that ended his athletic career but deepened his respect for the medical field and the professionals who helped him recover.
