(PBI), where he directs revenue cycle and practice management services for physician practices across more than 15 states. Under his leadership, the company supports over 200 practices. Alongside his career, he has been committed to philanthropy for more than 30 years, contributing both time and resources to a variety of causes. His professional journey began in 1991 with CompMed/Medaphis Physician Services, now McKesson, as a Senior Operations Manager. From the Knoxville, Tennessee, office, Darrell Hulsey oversaw operations for hospital-based physician practices in four states. His responsibilities included negotiating managed care agreements, handling reimbursement and contracts with third-party payors, and securing new business across multiple regions. After three years, he co-founded Medical Management Professionals (MMP) with six partners. Over time, Darrell held a range of leadership roles and made significant contributions to the company's growth. In 1998, the company was sold to CBIZ, where he became Vice President and later President and CEO. When MMP returned to private ownership in 2013, he continued leading the firm until 2016, when he partnered with PBI. During his time at MMP, the company handled more than 34 million procedures, managed $5 billion in client charges, and collected over $2 billion in client revenues. SEC filings reported $165 million in revenue and $21 million in earnings. At MMP, he was deeply involved in operations, compliance, IT, HR, finance, sales, and mergers. From 2007 to 2013, while serving as President and CEO, he increased revenue from approximately $90 million to $165 million, consolidated 12 billing systems into four, reduced costs by more than 45%, and decreased the staff count by approximately 35%. Earlier, as Executive Vice President of Operations for the East Region, he expanded the company from two states to 10, increased revenues by 83%, and grew profits by 98%. At PBI, he has led the company to 250% revenue growth between 2016 and 2025. Hulsey oversaw the acquisition and integration of five organizations, creating 30% cost savings within 18 months of each. He also introduced advanced data analytics and AI-based billing systems, improving collections by 15% annually, lowering claim denials by 25%, and reducing administrative overhead by 40%. His leadership strengthened compliance with HIPAA and CMS regulations, ensuring high standards across operations. For more than 35 years, he has supported religious charities and contributed to organizations such as St. Jude’s Hospital and the Epilepsy Foundation of America. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, holding a degree in Health Management with a concentration in Accounting, and has supported his alma mater for over three decades. Born in Haleyville, Alabama, he enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, and traveling when not working. Today, Darrell Hulsey continues to lead PBI while balancing his professional responsibilities with a lifelong dedication to giving back.
