A significant portion of her career was spent serving public school districts in northern Bergen County, New Jersey. For nearly a decade, Pettit worked as an Executive Assistant to the Superintendents of Schools in the River Edge and Fair Lawn Boards of Education. In these roles, she oversaw responsibilities such as preparing board agendas, planning district-wide programs and events, and handling confidential human resource matters. She became the central point of contact for teachers, principals, board members, and community members, ensuring communication was precise and reliable. Her ability to manage budgets, maintain calendars, and oversee detailed reports made her a valuable support to district leadership.
