Reed Cagle
Reed Cagle has made significant strides as a consultant in the oil and energy industries. He leverages extensive knowledge to improve operational efficiencies and adopt innovative drilling methodologies like horizontal drilling. Born in Clarksville, Texas, in 1962, he holds a deep-seated connection to his Texan heritage despite his wide-ranging travels. Married to Donna for over thirty years, Cagle has been a dedicated family man, raising their son, who has since matured into adulthood. Their family journey included a stint in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from 1999 until their return to Plano, Texas, in 2017, where they now reside. His foray into the oil industry began in 1986 with Kinlaw Oil Corporation, where his initial role ignited a lasting passion for the industry. His dedication and rapid acquisition of knowledge allowed him to progress swiftly through the ranks. In 1996, Reed decided to pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations, leaving Kinlaw to start his own business in Dallas, Texas. The following year, he founded Heartland Energy Inc., which he would steer as HEI, assuming the dual roles of president and CEO. His leadership focused on fostering partnerships with specialists across the industry, targeting ventures that spurred the exploration and development of oil, gas, and minerals. 2006 marked Cagle’s expansion into drilling services by partnering with Midcontinent Drilling. He spearheaded the construction of a 2000-horsepower drilling rig, significantly enhancing the firm’s capability to achieve drilling depths up to 20,000 feet. Reed’s entrepreneurial spirit led him into the mining industry in 2011, starting with a lucrative gold mining concession in Oregon that produced approximately 89,000 ounces of gold. His ventures also extended to Chile, where he significantly influenced the operations and financing of a gold and copper processing plant in Copiapo. Here, he innovated a novel process that efficiently removed and neutralized toxins from liquids, markedly improving the safety and environmental impact of the operations. Currently residing in Plano, Texas, Reed continues to provide consulting services to various oil and energy companies, with a particular focus on midsize independents. His consultancy also spans other industries, including a significant landscaping company serving East and Central Texas. Outside of his professional pursuits, Cagle is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting and fly fishing and champions the benefits of cycling. He holds a private pilot’s license and actively participates in his local church, where he often organizes community-focused activities. He is also an accomplished golfer, maintaining a four-handicap and regularly participating in charity golf tournaments alongside his son. He is the principal founder and officer of Outreachers, a non-denominational Christian charity. The organization is known for its extensive community development efforts, including building infrastructure and supporting various projects in Colorado, Texas, and internationally. The charity is renowned for its annual Chip-In charity golf tournament, which raises funds for these initiatives. With over three decades of experience in the oil industry, Reed Cagle exemplifies commitment to his profession, his family, and his community.
