Hafizur Rahman
Hafizur Rahaman is a veteran journalist who has been covering Bollywood and Indian cinema since the 1980s. With more than four decades of experience, he has written for both Bengali and English newspapers and magazines, earning recognition for his insightful interviews, cultural commentary, and ability to reveal the stories behind the silver screen. Trained at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), he holds a Diploma in Scriptwriting and Short Film Direction. As a filmmaker, he scripted the short film Mr. Feku, whose rights were acquired by the institute—an acknowledgment of his creative vision. Over the course of his career, Hafizur has interviewed many of Indian cinema’s most iconic figures, including actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, and leading directors such as Yash Chopra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Aziz Mirza, among many others. His editorial work, however, has not been confined to cinema alone. Hafizur has also actively edited political pieces and conducted interviews with prominent political leaders, reflecting his versatility as a journalist. He also edited the book Satyajit Writick Mrinal, which was widely reviewed in leading Indian dailies and received international acclaim, strengthening his reputation as a cultural chronicler of Indian cinema.
