Prof. Mehboob Desai

Mehboob Desai was born in the biggest city Ahmadabad in the province of Gujarat, India. His father Usmanbhai Desai was Police Inspector but also great Nationalist in British India. He always wear Khadi as a Police Uniform. He helped freedom Fighters during the Freedom Movements of India. Mehboob was admitted to the Saurashtra University at the age of 20 and earned a Bachelor's degree in 1974 and Master degree in 1976. His Subject of entire History. He received his Ph.D. in 1992 in the subject of "Bhavnagar Praja Parishad and Popular Movements in the Context of Freedom Movements of India 1920-1947"and got 1st price of best research book of Guajarati in the year of 1992 from Gujarat Sahity Akedemi, Gandhinagar. I am working as a Professor and Head of Department of History & Culture, Gujarat Vidhyapith, Ahmadabad, Gujarat, India. He was a advisory member of All India Rodie, Rajkot from 1984-1987. I am a member of Hariom Ashram sarvdharma Parishad,Sardar petal University,Vallabh Vidhyanagar. and also Trust of Darshak Itihas Nidhi, Ahmadabad. Awards : 1. On our 63 National Independence day Prof. Desai Honored by Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendrabhai Modi and Governor of Gujarat Dr. Kamlaji Benivala on 26 January 2012 at Bhavnagar for his Contribution to Education and Writing. 2. Awards of Gujarat Sahitya Academy, Gandhinagar for best Research book of the year in 1992 for book "Bhavnagar Praja Parishad and Popular Movements of Bhavnagar State in the Context of Freedom Movements of India (1920-1947)" 3. Sanman by Bhasker Group´s “Sauratra Samachar”. 100 Eminent Personalities of Bhavnagar Honored by Minister Shri Saurbhbhai Patel and Bhagvat Kathakar Shri Rameshbhai Oza Chief Guest of Function. 1st October 6pm at Bhavnagar. 4. Governor of Gujarat Hon. Navalkishor Sharma gave him appreciation awards in 2005 for his research and writing regarding communal harmony. 5. Jain Yuvak Sangh of Gujarat Gave awards for his Achievements in the subject of Freedom Movements of Gujarat and Saurashtra. (2002) 6. Lifetime Achievement Awards from Gujarat Muslim Samaj in 1996. 7. Pandit Sundrlal Millennium Award from Sahity Sangam, Rajasthan for his research on Freedom Movements in Gujarat.
