I am an avid ham radio kit builder starting long ago and far away in the mid 1960's when I was working on the Morse Code Merit Badge for Boy Scouts. My mentor Ed DePue was a ham radio operator and my merit badge counselor. He not only taught me morse code, but he also got me into ham radio and helped me build my first ham rig a Heathkit 3-band transceiver that could transmit on 40 / 20 / 80 meters CW. He also gave me an old Army surplus receiver that allowed me to tune into the 40 meter band and listen into ham radio and the world as well. My adventure into electronics grew from the seeds the Ed planted in my heart and my brain. And now, 60+ years later, a degree in Electonics Engineering, and thousands of hours of wonderful kit building I am still fascinated with building a project that when done lets me reach out to the world and visit places and people that I may never meet in this lifetime. So, come along, lets build a kit, or maybe a project from just schematics ... and have some fun.
