- About me: Katrina is a leading Australian educator and dance artist, contributing to national and international movement education outcomes through organisations such as the National Advocates of Arts Education \(NAAE\), World Dance Alliance, Ausdance, Deakin University and the National Institute for Circus Arts.

Katrina is a graduate of the Australian Ballet School and from 1984 performed professionally in Australia and in the UK, with the Dancers Company, The Australian Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre \(UK\) and Victorian State Opera as well as independent contemporary dance works and films.

In 1994 she was awarded a Bachelor of Education and began her practice in teaching and community dance. In 2000 Katrina completed a PHD, Contemporary Arts \(Dance\) from Deakin University.
In 2007, Katrina was engaged as the Caroline Plummer Fellow of Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. In 2009 she was the Artist in Residence for the City of Darebin and in 2010 was Artist in Residence for Arts Victoria.

From 2008\-2013 she worked in senior positions for Ausdance Victoria, the peak body for dance in Australia. In her roles of Acting Director and Education Manager, she regularly taught in school and community contexts, established and maintained strong industry partnerships and created high quality resources and programs. She was the author and project leader of the hugely successful: The Alice 
Victorian municipalities and more than 15,000 participants over 2 years, as part of the VicHealth MOTION program. was shortlisted for a 2014 Australian Dance Award, in the category, Services to Dance Education.

Her recent dance focus has been on dance for health, with particular reference to aging and Parkinson’s disease. In 2013 Katrina initiated Fine Lines, intergenerational dance and projects. Fine Lines began with contemporary dance classes for experienced dancers now entering their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The group has been studying dance and creating new work since that time.

Fine Lines Creative Body is a collective of artists who work with dance artist, teacher, director and producer, Katrina May Rank. Any work produced through Fine Lines Creative Body adheres to a core value: respect of individuals and their creative voice.
