- About me: My career began with a period designing and developing software for high performance, real\-time, industrial control systems.  I then moved on to a research / analysis role where, after initial work on a high\-performance real\-time simulator, I specialised in issues related to operational use and management of advanced military communications systems. In 1991 I set up SyntheSys, my own company, providing information systems products and services to government and industry markets.  The Company grew to become one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers of Tactical Data Link consultancy services and a provider of systems engineering products and services until it was sold at the end of 2024. In 2013, I set up Hartas and Sons \(trading as HandSon\) to provide affordable independent business services aimed at small and medium technology enterprises. In early 2021, I established Idealogix \(originally called SyntheSys Research\) as a semi\-independent research and development arm of SyntheSys, which undertook some novel projects.  Since the sale of SyntheSys, Idealogix has broadened its scope of operations and is now my main business interest. In 2026 I established a training organisation within idealogix, called Ursa, through which we develop and provide training courses related to systems technologies.
