Harvey Kryger
Harvey Kryger, formally recognized as Abraham Harvey Kryger, recently concluded his illustrious career as the owner and Medical Director of the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic in Monterey, California. Known for emphasizing proactive healthcare, the clinic guides patients toward better health through tailored diet, exercise, and hormone therapy plans. Though he retired in 2023, he continues contributing to the medical field by researching and advising his long-time patients. Kryger holds an MD and a DMD, along with a certification in family practice, highlighting his multifaceted expertise in healthcare. He is also the founder of the Alternative Medicine Foundation, reflecting his lifelong passion for integrating innovation into traditional medical practices. With over fifty years of experience, he has become a respected preventive and integrative medicine figure. His academic journey began at the University of Manitoba in Canada, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1964, followed by a DMD in 1969 and an MD in 1973. After completing his formal education, Kryger advanced his training at Stanford University’s Santa Clara Valley Medical Centre, specializing in surgery and burn care through rigorous internships and fellowships. In 1969, Kryger launched his career as a dentist in Vancouver, Canada, where he also extended his services to Indigenous communities in Northern Manitoba, offering free dental care. His career expanded in 1975 when he joined the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, where he served as a staff physician and later as Medical Director, managing emergency care and leading key operations. From 1977 to 1980, Kryger worked at the Sonoma County Holistic Health Center in Monte Rio, CA. During this time, he played a pivotal role in integrating holistic health practices with conventional medicine, collaborating with a diverse team of specialists to offer patients a comprehensive approach to care. In 1990, Kryger began his tenure at the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, specializing in disease prevention and hormone balancing. His leadership expanded the clinic’s offerings to include complementary therapies such as massage, enhancing its reputation for patient-focused care. Kryger made significant contributions to medical literature as an author with his 2004 book Listen To Your Hormones. The book has influenced the understanding of hormonal health and inspired innovative medical treatments. Outside of his professional life, Kryger enjoys painting and sculpting. He also maintains a farm where he raises animals and supports wildlife conservation, particularly for Monarch butterflies. His philanthropic efforts include providing care at a local nursing home and supporting educational and healthcare initiatives.
