Elmer P. Brabante is a member of the faculty of the College of Arts and Letters at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Manila, where he teaches English, Literature, Logic, and Philosophy subjects. Currently pursuing Master of Arts in Philosophy with concentrations on Ethics and the Philosophies of Language and Law at the University of the Philippines (Diliman), Elmer is a graduate of Bachelor of Laws, Teacher Certificate Program, and Bachelor of Arts (English). While finishing the Law program, he worked consecutively in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) either as debt management specialist or team lead paralegal, and at the Office for Transportation Security under the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) as Maritime Security Officer. Immediately after graduating from college, he co-headed the University Mass Media and Theater Arts Center (UMMTAC), anchored the youth-oriented radio-television program Text Generation, and eventually taught English, Mass Communications, and Education Technology subjects, at the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) in Camarines Sur. He honed his journalism and leadership skills as well as advocacy for education and the environment back in college as Editor of the Catalyst (PUP) and Sapientia (USANT), Chapter Chair of College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) Camarines Sur, President of PUP Central Student Council, and Director for Advocacy, Education and Training of the National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP). He was an affiliate of Asia Pacific Law Students Association, Dunong Bicol Center, Kaboronyogan Cultural Network, Bicol Teachers’ Alliance, Philippine Health Social Sciences Association (PHSSA) Camarines Sur, Bayan Muna Partylist Bicol, College English Teachers Association, Council of Deans and Chairpersons of English, and the American Studies Association of the Philippines.
