He later earned his medical degree from JJM Medical College at the University of Mysore. His medical training was rigorous, including a comprehensive internship at Chigateri General Hospital in Davangere, where he was first exposed to the broad spectrum of medical specialties. After obtaining his degree, Dr. Banaji specialized in anesthesiology, completing his residency at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India. His time at PGIMER was marked by significant research contributions, particularly in pediatric neuromuscular blocking agents. In 1993, he moved to the United States, cleared U.S. medical licensing exams, and joined the Anesthesiology Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. His medical journey in the U.S. continued with a residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, where he was recognized as the "Outstanding Internal Medicine Resident" in 1998. Dr. Banaji's relocation to Arkansas in 2000 started his extensive service to the Forrest City community. He initially worked in private practice and as an emergency room physician at Baptist Memorial Hospital, now known as Forrest City Medical Center. In 2005, he founded Internal Medicine of Forrest City, where he implemented value-based care programs such as the Patient-Centered Medical Home and CPC-Plus, significantly enhancing patient care quality. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Earle Family Medical Clinic in Earle, Arkansas, since 2008, overseeing clinical practices and enhancing healthcare delivery in smaller community settings. Dr. Banaji's clinical acumen includes managing complex chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and COPD. He focuses on personalized care, ensuring patients receive treatments tailored to their needs. His commitment extends beyond the clinic through his involvement with the Indian Cultural Center and Temple and his contributions to organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Autism Society of America.
