Brian C. Moss is the Principal and Head of Acquisitions & Capital Markets at Coventry Real Estate Advisors, a $3 billion private equity firm specializing in retail and mixed-use real estate. Since joining the firm in 2002, Brian has been integral to its growth and success, leveraging his extensive real estate investment expertise to help drive its strategic initiatives. His leadership has been pivotal in securing high-value investments and maintaining strong relationships with investors, ensuring that Coventry remains competitive in the ever-evolving real estate market. At Coventry, Brian oversees a diverse portfolio of 20 million square feet of retail properties across 43 states. His role involves managing acquisitions, capital raising, and structuring joint ventures and limited partner (LP) relationships. Brian’s deep understanding of the real estate market has enabled him to identify and capitalize on opportunities that align with the firm’s long-term goals. His leadership in these areas has been crucial to maintaining the firm’s position as a leader in real estate investment. In addition to his work in acquisitions and capital markets, Brian has played a significant role in shaping Coventry’s investment strategies, especially in response to market changes brought on by the pandemic. He led initiatives to diversify the firm’s investment approach, including creating new platforms focused on net lease and unanchored strip malls. These efforts are designed to capitalize on demographic trends and the wealth transfer expected to impact the real estate market over the coming years. Under Brian’s leadership, Coventry has seen significant growth in Assets Under Management (AUM), positioning the firm for continued success. Brian’s experience extends to asset management, where he has overseen several high-profile transactions. His leadership has been instrumental in recapitalizing $380 million in legacy investments, where he worked to secure debt and equity capital, restructure joint ventures, and implement updated business plans. His ability to navigate complex investment structures has been key to the firm’s success in managing and growing its portfolio. Notable projects under his leadership include a $100 million mixed-use redevelopment in Salt Lake City and a $250 million ground-up development in Kirkland, Washington. Before joining Coventry, Brian began his career at Lehman Brothers, where he worked on the Real Estate Partners Fund I. This early experience in private equity and institutional real estate investment helped shape his focus on capital markets and investment strategy in his later career. Brian Moss of New York earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Northwestern University and was an accomplished athlete. As a Men’s Varsity Tennis Team member, he was named Academic All-Big Ten and was ranked among the top junior tennis players in Canada and the U.S. His success in tennis earned him a partial scholarship to Northwestern, where he excelled academically and athletically. Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, Brian moved to Seattle, Washington, with his family before high school. He attended Lakeside High School, where he contributed to the team’s state championship victory in tennis. Outside of his professional achievements, Brian is passionate about giving back to his community. He volunteers with organizations such as the Terry Fox Foundation and Ice Hockey in Harlem and coaches youth soccer. Brian lives with his wife and three daughters in Brooklyn, New York. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, skiing, and supporting the Winnipeg Jets in his free time.
