MIT engineer, Harvard mathematician, Xerox scientist, Ethernet inventor, 3Com founder, Cambridge fellow, InfoWorld pundit, and now Polaris partner. Recipient of the National Medal of Technology, for leadership in the invention, standardization, and commercialization of Ethernet, of which there are billions of new switch ports annually (especially if you count Wi-Fi).
