Welcome — and thanks for stopping by. I’m Alvin, a licensed tour guide born and raised in Belize. I created this space to share the parts of my country that don’t always fit into a traditional travel blog — personal stories, quiet observations, and the deeper rhythms of life here. I grew up in Placencia back when the village still ran on diesel generators. We pushed wheelbarrows across unfinished boardwalks and fished by watching pelicans track baitfish. Today, I live in San Ignacio, where rivers run through limestone valleys and Maya temples rise from the jungle. My work — and my writing — are shaped by both. When I’m not guiding guests through ancient ruins, sacred caves, or lush rainforest trails, I write. Sometimes about weather. Sometimes about language. Often about the people who shaped me — like the old men who taught me how to fish, barefoot and patient. These writings aren’t always polished. But they’re honest.
