Indoctrinated from birth into Pentecostal Fundamentalism, part of a large, self-absorbed family with a grand redemptive narrative. I spent nearly five decades in church life and ministry, half of those as my pastor father's assistant in everything until I finally followed my doubts and reasoned myself out. Now a-theist--'no gods, no superstitions, no bumps in the night'--I am also anti-theist because of the great harm religion and particularly Christianity continues to wreck on our nation and world. Human decency, compassion, logic and reason are more than enough for me.
