Alice Bullard is President and CEO of the human rights non-profit, IRA-USA (www.ira-usa.org). We work on slavery, gender oppression and state racism in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Bullard established IRA-USA at the invitation of the internationally celebrated anti-slavery activist, Biram Dah Abeid. Alice has also worked in international environmental law, especially at the intersection of human rights and climate change, with deep engagement on Climate Adaptation international policies, international finance, and implementation programs. She earned her doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley and earned tenure as a historian at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, prior to earning her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and NEH-SSRC-ACLS fellow. Her books include Human Rights in Crisis (Ashgate 2008), Exile to Paradise (Stanford UP, 2000), and Mauritania Look 2014 (IRA-USA ebook).
