In this blog I intend to share things that interest me and, hopefully, to you. Some will have a secular topic and some will be more Christian. I want to have an open blog to allow comments and opinions, some in line with mine but, more importantly, those that are different or even are opposed to mine. I retired from my career as a computer programmer in 2001 when I was invited to leave my current position. In the meantime, I received a Masters Degree in Counseling. I also went through the training for Christian spiritual deliverance and inner healing. Recently, with some time on my hands, I started writing a story. Why in the world would I do that and how did I get started? Prior to this, I had written several poems but I had not written any prose. I woke up one morning and the name Tommy John Rose was roaming through my head. I have never heard of that name or anyone with that moniker. From this experience, I thought I was supposed to write a fictional story about this seventeen-year-old. who, as I wrote, gained the nickname of Thorn. The story takes place in the late 1800's to early 1900's (still working on that.) He is in the process of leaving his family and moving from farm work (which he hates) and finding out what he wants to do (and who he is.) Some of my life experiences, personal and observed, will influence parts of this story. The obvious (to me at least) title of the story is ‘Thorn In The Flesh’. Well, I'm working on it and we'll see where it goes. I am a part of two Christian writers editing group, tremendously helpful. I understand that not many written stories gain a wide acceptance. However, I think God planted that name in my head and he wants me to write so I will continue. Comments are welcome.
