I am a freelance copy editor. My idea of fun is to read (and highlight extensively in) my dog-eared copies of The Gregg Reference Manual and The Chicago Manual of Style. I once made it my sole ambition to cut all of my high school English classes so that I could hang out in boxcars, but I became a writer and copy editor because ... well ... God has a great sense of humor. And now, because I have been transformed into a creature that even I don’t recognize, I agonize day and night over the rampant incorrect usage of apostrophes; I cringe at the improper usage of lay, lie, laid, and lain (yes, lain is indeed a word, but I don't blame you for never having heard of it); I sleepwalk to the headstones of the adverb and the gerund and weep at their demise; I wish I had a dollar for every misplaced, dangling, or squinting modifier I’ve ever seen. These days, it seems that prepositions are trapped in an endless game of musical chairs in which it is often the wrong ones allowed to sit down in the sentence. I am passionate about the English language and Perfection in the Printed Word! If you need proofreading or editing of any kind, please contact me at wordcraftercopyediting@gmail.com. Thanks!
