The Attic Telegrapher
Apocryphal family history has it that I came into this world via the Chicago Public Library and due to an incomplete translation of Borges' short story, "The Library of Babel". In any case, I have found it good to be among books and readers of books for most of my life. The main exception to this tendency to bookishness was inspired by C.G. Jung's advice that anyone who wants to know the human psyche "would be better advised to bid farewell to his study and wander with human heart throughout the world". Driving a taxi in Chicago during the 1960's was particularly helpful in this regard.
