In 1976 my oldest son, Jeff's principal asked, "Mr. Black, I have some students, a room & a little money. Do you have any time?" She asked me to become a volunteer gifted education teacher. For the next two years I did. My life has never been the same since. Those Tuesdays with 22 highly academic students have led me on a journey that has lasted 32 years (3 degrees in education). 25 years of working as a creative thinking consultant have taken me around the US & the world (8 times). I have given over 3400 speeches, workshops, training programs. I have been telling stories since I was a little boy: through my drawings, my cartoons, my drawings/sketches as an architect, interior, graphics/signage or industrial designer, as a daily television news writer & weekend editor, through his body & movement creating "Silent Stories", as part of three different amateur improvisational acting troupes plus the past 25 years as a professional speaker, trainer, workshop facilitator. Since 1998 I have been living my life like the title of one of my books: LIFE IS A CREATIVE JOURNEY, NOT A GUIDED TOUR as I wander around the globe trying to help organizations develop Cre8ng Communities throughout their workplaces.
