VoHoan fished farmed and drank in Viet Nam. Upon graduation from the medical school he joined The Armed Forces of VN and worked in a military field hospital in a small town. He lived there almost half of his life : life in the war, life after the war. After discharged from the concentration camp, he escaped in 1979 and came to the United States of America.
