I am an Associate Professor of History and Environment at Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi, India. I completed my Ph.D from the University of Delhi. My thesis "The Marathas in Rajasthan in the 18th Century: A Study of Socio-economic Relationships" has underlined the implication of political fallouts on the land use and cropping pattern of eighteenth century Marwar, a semi-arid zone. He shows as to how the local drivers of change offer lessons in understanding the way people make their land-use decisions. I have not only written many research articles and books for higher education, but also been actively involved in secondary and senior secondary level curriculum development and planning. My books for children, titled Longman History Series for classes 6,7,8,9 and 10 (published by Pearson Longman) have given a new dimension to studying history by including the lives and activities of common people and by comprehending the past developments with the present. The thrust of my writings has been on developing life-skills among children along with studying history.
