I'm the author of two books. JOURNEY ACROSS THE FOUR SEAS is a true story of my mother's life. It is a tribute to the woman who brought the family from China to the U.S. NIGHTFALL IN MOGADISHU is a historical novel and spy thriller set in Somalia, where I had worked. It weaves the country’s history, politics and culture into a tale of international intrigue. I was born in Bangkok, spent most of my childhood in Hong Kong and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of fifteen. I received my B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley and my master’s degree in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University. In my first career, journalism, I wrote for Agence France-Presse, The Asian Wall Street Journal, and Congressional Quarterly. In my second career, international development, I traveled for the World Bank to Asia and Africa to work on aid projects. I now live in the Washington, DC metro area.
