Artist Vanda Lavar went daily to Capitola Beach as a child. She still remembers collecting shells and playing on the push merry-go-round which was available for small children during the 1960s. Some of her most magical childhood moments were spent feeding the Sea Lions when she was young. These experiences constitute some of her favorite memories. Her family is steeped in local history with her aunt, Beverleigh Jordan, being an early Begonia Princess. To honor these times, she has created this painting for the annual Capitola Begonia Festival.
