Most people would consider me an employee advocate, which is a role that I am very proud of. I serve the employees of the City of Norfolk as the President of the City of Norfolk employee union, aka Coalitioin of Public Employees (COPE). COPE is our local name, and we are Local 04-200 of the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE). In addition to serving on NAGE's Executive Board, I support the Healthy Workplace Initiative by being the VIrginia Coordinator. The Healthy Workplace Initiative is aimed at passing legislation that will protect employees from workplace bullies, a national problem that needs champions. In my spare time, I volunteer for the American Red Cross in educating residents on disaster preparedness and also assist victims of local fires. I am the proud mother of a son and daughter and have two beautiful grandaughters. God isn't finished with me yet.
