One of the major draws for where we live was the motto of the township, saying it was a land of trees. Our house is planted between a farmer's field with the Rideau River on one side and the patchy yet continuous North Grenville forest on the other. The first summer we were here we planted probably a dozen trees on our one acre of land, creating a "mast tree" section and orchard. We are continually attempting to surround ourselves by forest.
