I’m a communicator by nature, and by profession, though I was carried to it almost passively by currents that seemed to have a plan even if I didn’t. My pain points are that I lack a college degree--odd for someone in my line of work--and I have struggled with my weight all my life. Both of these things help to define me and often inform my point of view. The name for this blog came from a post I did on capital punishment. In it, I cursed the side of me that thinks reasonably and doesn’t allow me to take the easy and often emotionally satisfying answer. Easy and one-dimensional views on welfare, science, religion, taxes, budget deficits, and prejudice are everywhere. They are the sound bites we hear on the news every night and from our coworkers every day, and they are the path of least resistance. In this blog I will work to define my opinions about a range of topics, often forming them as I write, working them like clay until I end up with something that bears some resemblance to what I feel is right. I encourage comments of all kinds. Agree or disagree, my goal is a free exchange of ideas, especially with those with viewpoints different from mine.
