When I was 10 years old, everywhere I went I would carry a plastic briefcase with me. On the inside of its flap was written: "Sallie Dean Schaefer, the fameus auther" (NOT the famous speller). In that briefcase was whatever great American novel I happened to be writing at the time. Around that same age, I would walk up and down the street in front of my house in Kansas City crying out: "Down on your knees!!!", emulating the African-American preachers I had seen on television. Words and worship -- how they have been woven together over my lifetime. There is so much in this world that grabs my heart with hope, and I'm just one of those who can't keep that to herself. I've learned to live "on the lookout" for ways to encourage others, and that's what I hope this blog will do for you. Just noticing and recording does that for me. Thanks for coming alongside!
