With a painterly style that also includes an element of realism, Lisa Roos focuses on expressiveness, lush colour and thick, juicy brushwork. Starting with a good drawing she applies paint with a confident stroke, playing with colour, surface quality, design and simplified form. The looseness of each brush stroke, the pass of each pastel, the unconstrained charcoal techniques all characteristic of the artist's style. Maintaining a small studio in Calgary, Alberta, Canada many of her pieces have found homes in Canada, Sweden, Bulgaria, Austria and Germany.
