sistersoami
a cofounder of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in San Francisco in 1979, known back then as Sr. Missionary Position. I have been a cultural worker and queer activist since the early 70s when I got involved with GLF at the University of Iowa. In the mid 70s i produced children's programs for a CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa By '79 i moved to San Francisco and besides confounding the Sisters, i also joined The Fruit Punch Collective producing a weekly gay men's radio show for KPFA-fm in Berkeley for the five years i lived in the Bay Area. Moving to the Southeast in 1984, i've spent over a quarter century as a steward at a radical faerie sanctuary and two decades producing a queer country journal, RFD, which friends in Iowa started in 1974. Lay jobs, teaching, temping, and care giving for differently abled populations has garnered me the social security i now depend on for my retirement and medical care.
