The book, Savannah's Black "First Ladies", Vol. I, is the brainchild of Pamela Howard-Oglesby who said that she received an "inspiration from God" to recognize African-American women in Savannah, Georgia who pioneered in their chosen professions. She chose her long-time friend, Brenda L. Roberts to conduct the extensive research necessary to bring the book to fruition. The authors of are native Savannahians who work to improve their communities.
