I grew up at Beazleys Bridge, in rural Victoria, near a small town, St Arnaud, –244 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. It was a typical, small country town with a population of about 2,300 people. As with most country towns, in a land where hotels occupy more land area than mines, it had eight hotels or roughly one pub per 287 people. I left to become a journalist and change the world although it took several decades to understand that the world found change to be difficult. I started with the Melbourne Herald newspaper as a writer and story teller of all things. I spent a fascinating couple of years in Canberra, skipped to television with Mike Willesee and learnt the power of pictures. Later I moved to being a media advisor to various Premiers, politicians and corporates, as well as a stepfather and a few other things along the way. I ceased to be offended by rejection after my third day on the Melbourne Herald Newspaper. These are my stories. Some might even be true.
