E. Raymond Tatten
E. Raymond Tatten is a forty-year resident of Sterling and a life-long Yankee living in the beautiful apple country of Central Massachusetts. His essays and articles have appeared in local publications, including "The Worcester Telegram, The Harvard Post, The Bolton Independent, The Landmark" and "Sterling Meetinghouse News," along with "MUSED Bella Online Literary Review" and "Adelaide Literary Magazine." In this his first collection, "AND ANOTHER THING, I’m Just Saying…," E. Raymond Tatten offers thirty-five essays – stories and musings with topics as diverse as the childhood loss of his pony, near-drowning, the 2016 election, parenthood and his new senior discount – even “Two Bad Things” and “Finding Trouble.” Tatten began his writing experience ten years ago while attending a Sterling Conant Library book critique group, and many of his essays are short bursts in response to writing group prompts. Others “just happened” concerning current events or bubbled-up memories. There is sarcasm, humor and honesty in the way Tatten sees the world, and his voice has been called distinct and rich with authority. As for the work of writing, he says, “I’m finding it takes more effort to ignore an idea. It won’t go away but pesters until it’s written, and then it pesters more so I’ll pick at it and find someone to listen. Then it can finally go in a box with the others.” Tatten’s additional work in progress includes an historical fiction account of a sixteen-year-old Lancaster boy's capture by Indians in 1705 along with his own historical narrative as a nine-year-old living on a remote farm in Harvard, Massachusetts. Raymond shares a home on Rowley Hill with his wife Linda, daughter KT and a three-pound female Yorkie named Dani Dog.
