profjustice
I am a native Texan living in San Antonio. In my professional life I am a professor of communication, currently teaching at Texas State University in San Marcos after having taught at Georgetown College, the University of Florida, Texas Christian University, and Loyola University Chicago. I am Professor Emeritus at Loyola. In my personal life I am a husband and grandfather. Sarah and I are raising our high school age grandson. In my mind I'm still a runner, though after back surgery this year I'm not sure I'll be able to run another marathon. I'd hoped to make it a dozen. However, I am an active motorcycle rider with well over a half-million injury-free miles. My three bikes (sport, sport touring, dual sport) afford me the opportunity for many kinds of riding, though I especially like long distance riding. I am associate editor of the Iron Butt magazine. My friends call me Dr. J, since I explained to them that in my teaching and grading I try do "justice and not mercy." I use the name Prof Justice because it reminds me of the struggle with the questions of justice, mercy, grace, responsibility, and accountability in all aspects of my life.
