~I was born in Iloilo City, Philippines. I spent about 13 years there. My family moved to the U.S. in August 1989. Since then, I've lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for 20 years until my husband and I moved to Albuquerque, NM for his job relocation. A year after, his job was relocated to Mississippi so we had to move again. Since there is no work for me there, I would fly back and forth to Las Vegas to work at my hospitality jobs in Banquets. ~I have a passion for running and what a great feeling it does to my body. I have been running for 10 years now but didn't start racing until 2009. I fell in love with my first 5K run/walk race for the SGK Race for the Cure and thought I could do more than that. My first race ever was the San Francisco Marathon in July 2009 (FULL, not HALF). Living in a hot weather in Las Vegas, it didn't help me with my training for the marathon. I did not have enough time to train for it and I overestimated myself that I could do the full. Big mistake! Running up and down the hills in San Francisco was a torture for me and almost blew my left kneecap because of inadequate training. I did not run for 10 months due to injury. I finally registered for the half marathon in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in June 2010. It was my first time coming back in racing. I just wanted to have fun out there and enjoy running in one of the most beautiful races in the nation--perfect, cool weather and nice scenery. I clocked at 2:38. Then I signed up for the New Mexico Duke City Half Marathon in October 2009 and PR'd at 2:10. I was very ecstatic about the race knowing that I was getting better at pacing myself. A month and half later, I ran the Las Vegas Half Marathon and clocked at 2:14. A little disappointed because I wanted to finish in sub 2:10 but had problems with my lower leg cramping on Mile 7. It could've been dehydration or not enough rest because I worked 16 hours the day before and that was a big mistake. ~In 2011, due to business at work , I didn't run a lot of races. I ran a couple of 5Ks and just one half marathon in Chicago in August 2011. I clocked at 2:11..disaster struck at Mile 9 when I had side stitches due to the fluid they were handing out and it was kind of warm and didn't sit very week in my stomach. ~This year 2012, my running goal is to finish at least 3 half marathons, 2 full marathons, one 10 Mile race, 2 5ks and one 10k.
