Paul Wake Baker

Lincoln, Nebraska

I was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on September 30, 1949. My family moved to Lincoln when I was five years old and I was a resident until 1972. I learned acting through Lincoln Community Playhouse and went on to act, direct, and write many University Theater Productions. I graduated in 1974 with a B.S. in Education with a major in Theater and a minor in English. I moved to Colorado for dinner theater jobs in 1972, but returned to Lincoln to finish my degree. In 1978, I joined the United States Army and served in Germany. Afterward, I moved to San Francisco, California, where I lived for 18 years working for Cushman & Wakefield. After the company restructured following 9/11, I moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2002 and stayed there until 2011 when I moved back to Lincoln to spend more time with my family. At that time, I officially retired in order to write full time. Since then I have rewritten a novel I started in San Francisco (Spirit Wind) and obtained representation with The Jenks Agency in Boston, MA. Last year, I completed my second novel, Walk Against Time. While the first two books are contemporary adult literature, I currently have two novels in progress and they are both Young Adult Science Fiction. I am also a musician and songwriter and I perform locally. Carolyn Jenks is currently seeking a publisher for Spirit Wind and my goal is to have all of my novels published (hopefully at the rate of one per year) and move back to San Francisco, which is where I accidentally left my heart!
