DeannaLeah
Deanna Leah is an Author, Wife-to-be, Anti-Human Trafficking Activist and full-time Student at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. As of this fall she will be in her junior year and is studying to get her bachelors in women’s studies and psychology with a focus in social sciences and a certification in addictions counseling. She hopes to also get her graduate degree in social work so that she can be a well-rounded counselor and long-term caseworker for women and teens affected by sexual abuse. She is known for writing stories that deeply touch on the emotions of her readers and self-published her first novella, The Home of Our Hearts, at the age of sixteen. Since then she has also been published multiple times in Mavguard Magazine, was allowed by esteemed professor Andrea Mays to speak to her class about the dangers of human trafficking on Central Avenue and spoke at 2016 Feminist Conference on UNM campus on the same topic. When she isn’t pouring all kinds of emotion out onto the page or at an anti-human trafficking event or working hard at school, Deanna likes to veg on the couch with her fiancé and watch Supernatural or the newest thriller or romantic flick. She also loves long car rides with the windows down, camping and hiking, romantic, warm summer evenings and singing or dancing like there is nobody around to judge. Right now Deanna Leah is preparing for her July wedding and working on short pieces as inspiration prompts her. She is also always willing and able to prepare talks on human trafficking, abuse and sexual violence for any number of events around the state.
