Mike Middlesworth is a retired newspaper editor, publisher and sportswriter who moved to the Big Island in 1993, continuing to do newspaper consulting around the world for a number of years. Clients included El Nuevo Dia in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the New Zealand Press Association; the Los Angeles Daily News and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. He served as CEO and Executive Editor of the Virgin Islands Daily News in 1998. During 19 years at The Honolulu Advertiser (1973-1992) he was managing editor for 13 and moved into general managment as general manager in 1986. Over the years he was involved in virtually every facet of the business, from redesigning the newspaper to advertising rate-setting. Earlier in his career he worked at a number of newspapers in a variety of jobs, from sportswriter to editor. Among them were the Port Huron Times Herald, Utica Daily Sentinel, Saginaw News, Flint Journal and Detroit News in Michigan; the Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City and the Lafayette Journal and Courier in Indiana.
