This time last year I was really unhappy. I was working two jobs, one I loved and one I had grown to hate due to a moody, unpredictable boss. My husband worked away all week and I worked weekends. We had to question what is was for? Money? A lot of that went on childcare, especially during school holidays. We had a long hard look at what we wanted and needed to achieve. What made me in particular happy? It may be a tired cliche, but it's those dreamy days we spend in France. We admire the way the French enjoy simple pleasures and above all family. Drive down any typical French street after dark and there's very little sign of life as they're all tucked away with those who matter. So here I am, one year later, working some weekend nights doing a job I love, husband got a promotion - for less money - so he's home every day. We are somehow surviving, sometimes better than others. I'm embracing a calmer life, cooking more, cleaning a LOT more, trying to embrace the lifestyle I admire. Five children in total, two at home, one grandchild, one on the way and three crazy cats. My French fantasy in an urban setting. Sometimes I even find the time to be a little bored.
