Martha McSweeney Brower
I'm a Bostonian who answered an ad in the Boston Globe for an art teaching job in mid-coast Maine 43 years ago. I have a degree in painting and a masters degree in art education from Massachusetts College of Art, the same college my mother attended. In 2019 I earned a masters degree in creative non-fiction from University of Maine's Stonecoast program. I live in Camden with my husband and two dogs after launching three sons. I’ve been published in "Guideposts", "Maine Women", "Maine Senior", "Wanderlust", and "Deep Wild" magazines. I’ve also contributed to Courier Publications and had my essay included in the Audio Awards-nominated anthology "Nevertheless We Persisted". Hope Edelman’s book "After Grief" featured a paragraph from my MFA thesis. I received an honorable mention in Atlantic magazine’s college competition for poetry.
