Rev. Alfie Wines, Ph.D.

Rev. Dr. Alphonetta Beth (Alfie) Terry Wines, Pastor, Biblical Scholar, and Theologian seeks to encourage compassionate living through a deeper understanding of the biblical text. She anticipates that lives will be enriched as people learn to: • Engage the biblical text, recognizing that engagement is an encounter with ambiguity, uncertainty, and paradox. • Empower one another to be the change we seek in the world as we emulate the spirit of Jesus Christ. • Enlarge faith and exhibit respect for every human being. • Embody a spirit of excellence, wholeness, love, and justice that honors the humanity of all persons. • Emerge transformed by the renewal of the mind in order to emanate love of God, others, and self in every endeavor. Dr. Wines holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation and is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She is a member of Daughters of Abraham—a group of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim women who promote constructive dialogue in pursuit of interfaith understanding and peace.
