A while ago I was asked to write a 5 word memoir. The mere idea of this was mind blowing. After all, how could I wrap up my whole life in 5 words? Granted I've only lived for 17 years and some months, my life is - Good Lord willing - far from over. But still, 17 years is hard to wrap up in 5 words... not to mention the fact that I've changed so much in those 17 years. After much struggling - melding 5 different verbs together - trying to think of cool phrases - and banging my head against the top of my desk - I came up with something I was quite pleased with. Who Am I? A Writer. At a glance, it seems rather simple. But, when I look at it, think about it, I see so much more. Think - I am seventeen years old. My most memorable years - though I do remember most of them - are my teenage years. I have changed so much in my teenage years. But, one consistency: I have written. I started and finished my first novel when I was thirteen years old. I am a writer - nothing more, nothing less. I can write about anything - my own experiences, or make up my own. I can bend my friend's experiences, and I can write spin offs on my own favorite novels that I read. One thing I can say for certain that I have learned in my 17 years is that: No matter where life takes me, no matter how much I change, no matter how many friends come and go, no matter how many books I read, or how much my mind swirls with new ideas, wonders, questions, no matter how many experiences I have, one thing will stay the same: I will always, ALWAYS, write.
