Professor, Global Studies, California State University, Monterey Bay. I grew up in Manila, and have lived and worked in Southeast Asia. I've written on Filipino feminist theologians' frameworks for 'just peace' for both Communist and Muslim insurgencies in light of the US war on terrorism. I've been faculty and research consultant for the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies’ Applied Conflict Transformation Studies MA (2005-2010) in Cambodia, and served on other feminist interfaith, anti-imperialist networks, most important these days is the Muslim-Christian Feminist Alliance. My current project, Invisible Aid, embarks on an ‘anthropology of the imagination,” which takes seriously the social imaginary of local religious communities and those who seek out the invisible world for guidance and solace.
