Hi, my name is Vicky and I’m a daughter, sister, wife and mother living and working in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia (also known as paradise). Born and raised in the UK, I came over here for a holiday 15 years ago and have never left. The name of this blog – Kooky Makes – comes from my previous cake decorating company (Kooky Cakes) and is my facebook/twitter/online nickname. I like it. It describes me (a bit kooky) and what I love to do (make stuff). In my day job I work as ‘Director of Automation Tactics’ for Creative Automation. We help entrepreneurs automate their processes so they can grow their business using Infusionsoft and our wide ranging experience with small business, finance, online & sales and marketing. It’s a passion and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to help other people achieve their dreams. But this blog is not about that. It’s about my other passion – creating (funny how that’s in my company name too eh?). I have always made things. I’ve always liked to create. Knitting, sewing, cooking, cake decorating, cross stitch, card making, gardening, soap making, natural beauty therapies and the list goes on. As I’ve grown older all this pleasure in creating, in colour, in texture, has crystallised into making art, and in particular to art journalling and the process of slapping paint on paper and making something that represents how I feel, who I am, what I’m thinking about right now. So that’s what I want to share here. My processes and my creative life. I hope you find something interesting, something useful or even something beautiful.
