Kim Lascarides
Kim Lascarides has worked at Calhoun High School since 1996, when she joined the Department of Science. Her education includes a B.A. in Biology from New York University and a M.S. in Biology from Adelphi University. At New York University, she studied as a Presidential Scholar, completing Minors in Chemistry, Classical Latin, and Secondary Education, in addition to working as a Teaching Assistant for the Department of Chemistry. Beyond the classroom, she has served as: an instructor for the New York University High School Teachers Summer Workshop in Genomics and Bioinformatics; a lab writer for the Cornell University Institute for Biology Teachers; a Research Fellow for the Howard Hughes Secondary Science Teacher Research Program; a participant in the Stalking Science in the Adirondacks Program at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry; and a former member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Honors include being named as a Teacher of Merit by the Intel Science Talent Search for multiple years. In September 2012, Mrs. Lascarides was named as a recipient of the Yale Educator Award.
