Johnson Flucker is Oscar Wilde
Johnson Flucker plays Oscar Wilde in "Work Is The Curse Of The Drinking Classes," a solo-show based on the life and work of the flamboyant author and bon-vivant who was one of the most famous--and infamous--people of the 19th century. Johnson Flucker began his performing career as a boy soprano. As a counter-tenor he was a two-time Yale Whiffenpoof, and has sung and recorded with many groups and choirs including St. Thomas Church Choir, Pomerium Musices and Chanticleer. An active singer on the New York opera, choral, ensemble, and recording session scene, his voice appears in many commercial jingles and movies including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin,and Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as Working Girl, The Stepford Wives, and Mission to Mars. He has sung in concert and recording projects for a wide variety of artists including Leonard Bernstein, Placido Domingo, Sarah Brightman, RUN-DMC, Pete Seeger, Paul Halley, and Judy Collins. An accomplished conductor and choir trainer, he was Director of Liturgical Music at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine for over ten years. As an actor he has sung or played Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Polonius (Hamlet), Richard Henry Lee (1776), Gremio (Kiss Me, Kate), and Joe Boyd (Damn Yankees).
