An avid futbol fan, John, the main contributor at "Dangerman", follows several different European leagues, including the English Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and Romania’s Liga 1. His love of the game was re-kindled several years ago after he began watching Serie A with his Romanian in-laws, who followed players such as Fiorentina’s Adrian Mutu (perhaps the dumbest man in European football), Lazio’s Stefan Radu, and Inter’s Christian Chivu. John’s on-field exploits are limited to now distant memories: leading his fraternity side to near-glory in William and Mary’s intramural tournament and achieving supremacy with his William and Mary alumni, co-ed indoor team several years later. The author’s futbol insight (using the term loosely) focuses less on the statistics and strategy and more on the drama and stories behind the game; for example, “clearly Maradona is nuts–how else to explain naming Mascherano captain?” or “the only thing in futbol stronger and more durable than Javier Zanetti is Marek Hamsik’s hair gel”.
