Jeff Slack grew up in the lowlands of West Quebec, where he first discovered the glorious heights in the nearby Gatineau Hills. Following his older brother, he dropped his skis for a snowboard at age 9 and soon began cursing his parents for not raising him in the mountains. Ten years later he made the move myself. Since then his time has mostly been split between winters in the mountains and a degree in history. He currently lives in Victoria, B.C. where he should be working on his master’s thesis “The Cultural History of Glaciers in British Columbia’s Coast Mountains” but is probably day-dreaming of somewhere steeper.
