Urban Makers East was founded in Bow, the heart of the East End by Ilka Dickens and Julia Redgrove. Being makers themselves they realised that a local, designer led market was missing from their lively, creative and diverse area of East London. With so many established and budding designers, artists, crafters and all round great people on their doorstep the aim was simple; to create a supportive environment for like-minded, independent designers to sell their work. Urban Makers was born! It started in 2015 with a one off Christmas market. With handpicked stalls selling a variety of unique handmade items. The event was such a success they have hosted many more in East London and beyond. They have curated special events as part of the Roman Road Summer and Winter Festivals, Makemore Festival, Winterville London, Old Spitalfields Market, Here East Stratford, Stylist Live and more.
